My First Hours

4:40 pm
Dad arives home from work and Mom is having slight contractions and starts timing them.
4:43 pm
Dad goes out to the neighborhood yard sales looking for a 13" color
TV.
5:20 pm
Dad returns triumphant in his quest. Mom rolls eyes.
6:10 pm
Mom says that her contractions are starting to get stronger and are
coming about five minutes apart.
6:11 pm
Dad goes to take a shower and pack.
7:45 pm
Mom and Dad go out to dinner.
8:45 pm
Mom 's contractions are three to four minutes apart.
9:00 pm
Mom and Dad go for a walk around the neighborhood.
11:30 pm
Mom and Dad go to bed.
3:00 am
Mom wakes up with strong contractions.
4:05 am
Mom calls Janet for Doula.
4:21 am
Mom and Dad are off to the Hospital.
4:45 am
Mom is in triage and Janet arrives. Mom is 4cm & 80% and I'm -1
5:15 am
We're all off to room 321 for some more contractions with nurse
Billy.
5:34 am
The resident on duty stops by to chat for a bit.
6:15 am
Mom is 5cm & 90%, I'm at 0.
6:25 am
Mom's doctor, Dr. Yonkin, arrives.
6:38 am
Janet takes us to room 3w51 to hangout in the whirlpool for a while.
7:45 am
Nurse Annie, with Darcy an RN in training show up to take over for
Billy.
8:00 am
We head back to the room to sit on a big bouncy ball for a while.
8:10 am
Dad sneaks a bagel while Mom isn't looking.
8:28 am
we're off the ball and on the bed to continue with the labor.
8:55 am
Mom is 6cm & 90% thin.
9:00 am
Mom says enough is enough and asks for an epidural.
10:07 am
Mom (still with out epidural) is 9.5cm & 100%, I'm +1.
10:15 am
Mom finally gets the epidural (single dose)
10:42 am
Mom get her water broke and I get a monitor attached to my head.
10:43 am
I'm a bit turned so mom gets put into the "Texas Twist" to rotate me
back.
12:58 pm
Mom is ready to go and starts pushing.
1:03 pm
A cast of thousands (8 really) enters the room awaiting my arrival.
1:32 pm
I'm born. (Mom has a successful VBAC)
1:33 pm
I meet Mom and Dad cuts the cord.
1:45 pm
I get poked, prodded, rubbed, and stabbed with a needle.
1:55 pm
Mom gives me a late lunch.
2:48 pm
Nurse Christie weighs & measures me.
3:00 pm
I get a bath.
3:23 pm
I fall asleep.
